hi, have dell inspiron 1564, worked out of box. but... @ every , then, once 6 boots, blank screen after boot, not react keyboard events, ctrl+alt+del (reboot) or power button (halt). can not console (ctrl+alt+f1, etc). idea? should check? the boot splash screen responsible problem, seems. disable boot splash screen, edit (as su) /etc/default/grub, , remove splash line: code: grub_cmdline_linux_default="quiet splash" and run (as su) update-grub. removed quied option, have more diagnostics. after this, have no more frozen screens on startup. about 2 months ago got free computer no operating system installed. first operating system installed ubuntu 10.4. last week purchased windows 7 , installed today modified mbr , can boot windows. didn't have grub installed before have nothing restore from. have linux on /dev/sda1 , windows on /dev/sda2 followed swap. i've searched through these forms ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/gr...0from%20livecd ) can find restoring grub 2 if you've had installed previously. i've run "sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt/ /dev/sda1", failed following: /usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: attempting install grub partition instead of mbr. bad idea.. /usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: embedding not possible. grub can installed in setup using blocklists. however, blocklists unreliable , use discouraged.. /usr/sbin/grub-setup: error: if want blocklists, use --force. don't think want use --force, i'd rather install mbr, how do that?

i use photoshop on pc.   at home have dual monitor set-up, , have photoshop stretched across them. place tools on 1 monitor, , image in another. works great.   i staying @ else's house summer , brought computer along , 1 monitor only. else computer working fine, except photoshop. still thinks using 2 monitors. can see tabs, , maximize window. when open levels, or hue/saturation, pop-up doesn't appear on screen. can tell it's appearing in "phantom monitor", isn't there, because can't else in program until exit out of levels (by pressing enter, if pressing ok). it's problem when using eyedropper, since can't see swatch window supposed pop up. yet, can see layers, channels, , on. can tabbed can see. pop-up, cannot.   this totally bizarre. because no other software using exhibiting problem. so i'm asking opposite of people ask: how can return one-monitor set-up in photoshop?   thanks! photoshop cs5 or cs4?  if so, click on 1 of workspace buttons

i having issues photoshop cs5 crashing on launch. had ran cs5 premissions fix adobe - still problem continued. launch program 32-bit without problems. when launched in 64-bit mode program crash.   reviewing crash log, appeard problem ats.  clearing ats cache has corrected problem:   shutting down all applications   open terminal , clear current user’s font cache running command:        atsutil databases –removeuser once cache has been cleared stop , restart ats server:          $ atsutil server -shutdown          $ atsutil server -ping takes few seconds server restart, when should running properly. thanks posting this. font caches in cocoa/64bit problematic. we're working apple try , resolve issue. something must have gone wrong installing cs5 photoshop on cs4 indesign!   even after net-updating bridge 4.0.2 startup script folder (preferences > startup scripts) empty. when selecting output workspace in bridge, there no pane let 1 output web gallery or contact sheet.   i'm doing meanwhile in cs4 bridge, works fine. bridge version coming cs4 indesign.   i downloaded cs5 photoshop in april (i guess it's international english upgrade) running on osx 10.6.4 on new 17" book.   is there upgrade coming, how can achieve full functionality of bridge cs5?     than in advance input, bernd rummel unless have fixed modules work in few languages.  north american english, not international english.  may probem, might worth checking.
