Thread: Accessing windows data in a dual boot enviroment


i have laptop dual booted windows vista , ubuntu.i downloaded movies , music files while using windows vista,which there in hard disk,my question can access these music , video files when boot ubuntu,and can play them?

yep, go system > administration > disk utility>

find hard drive - , click on vista partition , click mount.

go desktop, , should on desktop! find moves , play them.

play dvd's , other media though, have install 'ubuntu-restricted-extras'. applications > accessories > terminal

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
enter in passwords , enjoy movie!

if want hard drive automatically there on desktop, go system > administration > synaptic package manager

searched 'ntfs-config' , install it. show in system > administration > 'ntfs configuration tool'. find partition list , click 'enable write support' , hard drive automatically everytime bootup easy acccess files.
