Status Bar vs Image Size vs Bridge
please help! i'm trying make sense of numbers don't seem add …
in bridge i'm looking @ looking @ psd file (2 layers) file size 27.34 mb. open in photoshop , @ status bar in bottom left corner of document window, reads:
doc: 36.4m/47.0m
in images size window pixel dimensions read:
36.4m
as understand it, 36.4m figure estimated size of file if flatten image 1 layer. whereas 47.0m number relates current size of document layers. why bridge think file size 27.34 mb?
and how come when flatten image status bar reads:
doc: 36.4m/24.8m
how can photoshop incorrectly estimate flat size of image flat? shouldn't read:
doc: 24.8m/24.8m
i feel i'm taking crazy pills!
in example 36.4mb size 1 layer uncompressed file have these dimensions, bit-depth, etc.
to test save flattened uncompressed tif off file.
the file size seen in bridge or finder depends on psd-file’s compression – pretty difficult predict exactly, therefore estimates employed.
