ok, here problem. installed ubuntu ultimate 9.04. have upgraded everything. , now, have many porgrams can change appearances (background, themes, pointer, icons) etc. going nuts. , don't know if wanted xubuntu. there ubuntu 10.4? how 1 know desktop envioronment being used. have compiz , love use it. can't work anymore. instance, can't change pointer. also, can't generic background turn off used can have multiple backgrounds. there many things on laptop. don't have way store stuff , fresh install.. can please me? http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download thats normal gnome. hello everyone, finished installing ubuntu 10.04 (amd64 architecture) on new laptop, toshiba satellite l635-s3015. i'm having lots of problems. here's list. 1. install system, had add "acpi=off" in boot parameters, because otherwise system hangs. , of course need add in grub.cfg file, same reason. think reason why hotkeys aren't working (volume control, wifi switch etc.). 2. wireless card isn't detected. card intel corporation wimax/wifi link 6050 series (rev 57). ifconfig doesn't detect it, , if run code: sudo ifconfig wlan0 up obtain code: siocsifflags: no such file or directory first attempt of fixing problem install winxp driver via ndiswrapper. ndiswrapper -l shows driver installed, still, card isn't working. 3. wired ethernet card isn't working. posted problem have in relevant thread ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...23#post9682123 ) 4. strangest of all, when plug in usb stick, doesn&#

i have acer aspire 5735z ralink 802.11n wireless lan card built in. in karmic koala connected bt home hub wireless router, first time, every time. have installed lucid lynx. clean install, not upgrade. network manager finds router , have put in encryption key. network manager drops connection every minute or so, , asks encryption key again, , way can use firefox or download updates wired connection. have tried installing wicd. finds router , asks encryption key, fails connect @ all. message "connection failed : bad password." wicd did not remove network manager. should remove 1 or other? more point how stable wireless connection. hello, clever people.   for years, organization has been producing 300-500 page courses in microsoft word, using indesign course covers.  might guess, content team looks pretty rough pulling out hair , weeping 8 hours day.  we've convinced director indesign , incopy might way go, in trial version downloaded, we're having trouble roundtripping between indesign , word.   word incopy/indesign breeze, of course.  however, our course authors have make updates courses every 2 or 3 years, need word file can re-import incopy/indesign without having reformat.  paragraph styles work fine, figured out bit, page , frame breaks stripped out in rtf.  suggestions?   and no, can't use incopy everywhere.  we've got fluxuating roster of 20+ course authors (cha-ching!), , convinced 1 guy switch word perfect microsoft word last year.  we're still trying train them work locked, track changes files.  changing way work isn't of option, it's got on our end.  these people geniuses i

hola todos, bueno pues instalado el photoshop cs5 en una notebook lg x110 y en una computadora de escritorio hp w15e ambas con sistema operativo windows 7 (la notebook anteriormente tenia el windows xp, y ocurria el mismo problema) y lo que pasa es que en la computadora de escritorio puedo crear archivos y guardarlos libremente mi antojo. pero en la notebook, si doy click en archivo/guardar no abre la ventana de dialogo y si es una imagen editada solo sobreescribe los datos, pero si le doi en archivo/guardar como no ocurre nada absolutamente nada, no abre nada, no responde, no guarda no nadaa... por si acaso intentado en cambiar las prefrencias (edicion/preferencias/generales)  de modo que en ambas computadoras obtengan los mismos resultados pero no hay ningun cambio visible... en otros foros encontrado el mismo problema y ninguna solucion. tambien intentado reinstalarlo pero ningun resultado. la unica forma de guardar es cerrrando  el archivo pero para guardarlo como jpg se necesitan
