Thread: How to turn the desktop effects permanently on

i'm using kwin desktop effects. turn on desktop effects , works
after reboot pc, desktop effects not turn on automatically.
need turn on again. resume compositing every restart.
also, can't find effects in kwin. can adjust basic effects (the first tab) when tried go effects tab (the second tab) empty.
hope can me problem.

version of kubuntu , kde using? did fresh install? or did upgrade ubuntu or earlier version of kubuntu?

you're describing, can guess 1 of 3 things.

1) don't have correct graphics drivers installed. check application launcer>> system>>hardware drivers. should tell if correct drivers found/installed.

fact effects can turn on @ means must have form of driver. perhaps you're using free driver?

2) not necessary packages installed. can suggest try install package kubuntu-desktop , see if drags in needed dependencies.

3) don't have enough ram/cpu power. if system low on resources, kubuntu might decide disable desktop effects lighten load places on hardware. ram/cpu specs? there should plasmoid installed give correct information.

edit: using opengl rendering or xrender? xrender isn't mature opengl , might cause few problems. other that, i'm out of ideas. maybe more knowledgeable offer further insight?

cf_sql_integer vs cf_sql_bigint vs cf_sql_int??

i have id (primary key) set bigint in sql server. have query following: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_integer" value="#url.id#"> i got invalid data type it. tried: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_bigint" value="#url.id#"> i still got invalid data type it. tried: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_int" value="#url.id#"> and worked. the weird thing cf_sql_int not listed being accepted: http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/coldfusion/5.0/cfml_reference/tags79.htm can explain me. > whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_bigint" value="#url.id#"> what value of #url.id#? had no problems either using cf8. > weird thing cf_sql_int not listed being accepted: iirc, when pass in invalid sql type cf uses default: cf_sql_char, accepts anything. ms sql implicit convert() right type , why works.
