flash player 10,1,53,64
hp elitebook 8530w built-in hp camera (brand spankin' new).
so flash player today decided doesn't want work webcam. have pulled hair out trying figure out problem is. camera works fine other video camera software, such adobe flash live encoder 3.1, example, or various microsoft cam tools. flash player won't see it. when visit website uses camera through flash, black box. never privacy screen asks me if allow site temporary access camera.if go settings, , go camera tab, shows camera device in dropdown box. know how if double-click little box under dropdown, should activate camera , display little video inside box? doesn't work me. this:
it doesn't matter if use ff or ie. i've re-installed flash player, both ff version , ax version. no avail. i've logged computer different user, because hell maybe it's weird dumb thing in flash player cache or something. nope.
now here's super, super, super annoying part: moved laptop , 1 of things looking forward computer webcam work flash player again. yes, that's right: old computer had exact same problem. , in both cases, @ 1 point camera worked flash player no problem, , @ point, stopped working.
this makes me think, of course, problem nefarious piece of software i've installed, can't think of is. know camera working new computer last week. i've installed bunch of software, including adobe media live encoder 3.1, flash professional cs5, , adobe connect add-in. i've uninstalled except cs5, because, hey, wants re-install if don't have to? i'll last result, guy sitting next me has entire cs5 suite installed , camera works fine him flash player (same exact hardware too), don't think it's that. other that, dunno. i've got vs2008 , 2010 installed. gotomeeting. office. that's it.
so. ideas? thoughts on how start debug issue? logging or something? appreciated.
yes.
victory mine.
victory mine!!!
solution:
go c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\mms.cfg
set
avhardwaredisable=1
to:
avhardwaredisable=0
restart browser. done. camera works now.
i want shout solution rooftops, because try googling solution sometime. did. failed. too. if use more 18-point bold font, google index faster, because that's way works right?
i had no idea flash player has folder in windows\system32 @ all, , had no idea file existed. guessing stinking app installed decided needed avhardwaredisable set 1 reason (effers). found out location lazily searching through windows registry "flash player" , saw pointing directory. little more poking around , found file.
those of actively support forum: please keep in of mind, next time has audio/video input problems flash player. i've found awful lot of forum posts people cameras not working, , bet portion of them need fix. reinstalling flash player not fix it. here's hoping solution comes in google next unlucky soul.
