Thread: Cryptsetup with Luks seems to fail to unlock
situation:
reinstalled ubuntu , when try mount old disks after using cryptsetup luksopen i'm uname mount devices.
did rearrange disks inside of computer after reinstallation, added new disks etc, shouldnt effect crypto , lvm allready on it.
lvm partitions marked active aswell.
cryptsetup version 1.1.0-rc2, tried 1.0.6 ubuntu 9.10 cd aswell.
physical disk -> lvm2 group -> lvm2 partition -> crypto using luks
try unlock using:
dmesg , /var/log/messages comes nothing, nor --verbose argument cryptsetup.code:# cryptsetup luksopen /dev/mapper/group1-media media enter passphrase /dev/mapper/group1-media: key slot 0 unlocked. root@starshine:/# mount /dev/mapper/media /mnt/ mount: must specify filesystem type
scan testdisk on drive finds no valid partitions, , i'm have not overwritten during reinstallation, i'm when doing changes disks due (for me) valuable information on it.
ideas appreciated, , no, not have backup
kind regards,
ilon sjögren
