Adobe has lost a customer for life....

so, here run down of lead situation letting forums know about:

several weeks ago, mother using 1 of websites uses requries flash , told needed update flash, had done countless times before. doing did, followed normal steps install newest flash. somewhere during upgrade process, the flash player installer failed complete upgrade process.

fast forward several weeks when have time try , fix problem. before explain steps took try , resolve issue, let me provide quick background self. have degree in computer science, program windows (including registry) , linux (both cli , gui apps). such, know i'm doing when try fix issue.

so, onward made adobe lose customer!

i called in support desk @ 800-833-6687 on 06/30/2010. don't have name of spoke with, indian man spoke english enough me not have guess @ saying. wish indians spoke well, might make customer service experience easier. explained him situation was, , proceeded tell me there woud $39 charge because flash player free product. told him put supervisor on because wasn't going pay support when not customers fault. said supervisor same thing. bluntly, told him didn't give **** , put supervisor on. (ok, may have been out of line, wasn't interested in talking peon argue me. i'm customer, , arguing me way piss me off.)

i spoke man sounded southern british, or @ least had british accent. enough couldn't understand name. explained him, agian, problem was, , in more detail. explained issue registry, , way have happened if installer or uninstaller had caused issue. gave me same speech there being $39 charge, flat out said wasn't happening.

after getting pissed @ both peons, hung phone more annoyed , frustrated before. so, attempts before, went trying figure out wrong , how fix it. had 2 options. 1) re-install windows...not happening. 2) code cowboy code , jack registry old school style rid of offending entries. i'm crazy, i'm not insane...jacking registry?!? yikes!

so, after rebooting safe mode , using standard tricks rid of offending registry entries, not-so-common ones. tried regedit cli reg. of them came "access denied." after trying except option 1 , 2 above, called support desk number , kept mashing 0 until got through person in us.

i first spoke lady name of nancy. listened explained problem , said "you correct, there $39 charge support requests related flash player, in case, it's clear me isn't normal issue. let me see if can senior on line issue." yay nancy! far beyond regular user capable of doing on own, entire reason refuse pay support on free product. (more on later.)

nancy transferred me senior, man name of angel. explained him in great detail , @ length issue is, had done try , fix it, , why wasn't going pay support. tried having me install revo uninstaller, useless move. had ran flash uninstaller, technically speaking there wasn't revo uninstall. , apparently couldn't used force remove registry entries (which doubt have worked anyways seeing how administrator account couldn't remove them using cli tool.) suggested using system restore fix problem. sadly, useless feature ms, last system restore point appears have been made after bug appeared. angel gave me over-reguritated excuse of "go online forums , hope best" followed "you might have reinstall os." let me second aformention item... flash installer directly responsibly state of registry keys. corruption or improper settings on registry keys lies first , foremost flash installer. in case, registry entries appeared corrupted point administrator account not remove them. if truely case flash installer has corrupted registry , way fix either use option 2 listed above or reinstall os, make adobe liable time , expense of either case. faulty installer created situation begin with, published (albeit freely) adobe. eula or not, can't release buggy software , expect people pay mistakes. made sure angel understood gravity of such prospect. think did, think had mentality of "good luck getting pay it." oh if did.

i expressed dis-satisfaction reponses, , made plainly clear adobe's position utter garbage. seriously, adobe makes millions off of flash , related products. reason flash player free consumers want eye candy on websites , adobe can keep selling (overpriced) flash based "solutions" rake in money. adobe big , bad can casually release beta software impacts customers computer adversely don't have care? don't have answer i?

i understand flash player free software, lets face it, open source software free, , more not has excellent support. makes adobe think great can offer free product , make cash off when breaks customers computer? i'm not customer calling in has no clue computer let alone how run can't figure out how install flash player. i'm power user systems level programming on multiple oses. think i'm stupid need pay tell me "try this, this, that, oh hell, there's major problem here"?

so, ranting aside, figured out issue after hanging angel. 1 final thing hadn't occured me check. let's face it, there process go through when troubleshooting, , had come end of it. must say, surprises me adobe techs had not mentioned fix, again, not much.

rather kind person, i'm going screw of adobe , it's customers adobe tried screw me out of $39. yes, that's how tech tip worth. lousy $39. it's simple fix serious problem, adobe views me little $ symbols rather customer worth taking care of. here go adobe, take screwing never care about.
