Windows 7/CS4

hello all,

 

the computer lab have been teaching fireworks cs4 upgraded windows xp windows 7 enterprise (32bit).  i'm running cs4 under windows 7 professional 64-bit (fireworks in compatibility mode on system.)  systems have had update installed , showing 10.0.3.011 version.  systems have @ least 4gb ram.

 

in cases, i'm having serious issues cs4 programs.  example of problems fireworks: when attempting use dodge or burn tool impossible change property inspector option (midtones, shadows, highlights).  clicking doesn't "take".  if, however, click on option, click on select tool, go dodge or burn tool, option tried change 1 showing in pi.   computers experience intermittent crashes (an internal has occurred).  on 1 system, fireworks crashed on 20 times in 1 class period.  since not occur on systems, i'm willing chalk possible hardware issue, tools not working happen on windows 7 systems mentioned above.

 

i have read cs5 "fixes" bunch of issues.  if so, there patch expected cs4?  school upgraded cs4 in december, , budget crunch, cs5 long ways in future.

 

i have not tried run cs4 in windows xp virtual mode on windows 7.  has else tried that, , did help?

 

my students not feeling adobe right now. i've spent 10 hours researching these issues, if i've missed  obvious link, or if has experience share, i'd greatly  appreciate it.

there recent patch released fw cs4, mac. i've been using cs5 on mac (mostly) , pc (occasionally) , it's behaving far far better cs4 on both platforms. lot of development time in new version spent of fixing issues, adding nice features.

 

at 1 of colleges teach, i'm using cs4 on xp 64 bit systems , oddball behavior both fireworks , dreamweaver. not enough me throw in towel (although last week came close lol), frustrating.

 

see if can department install little air app. it's auto backup fireworks , works quite well:

it won't stop crashing, may save lot of frustration.

cf_sql_integer vs cf_sql_bigint vs cf_sql_int??

i have id (primary key) set bigint in sql server. have query following: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_integer" value="#url.id#"> i got invalid data type it. tried: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_bigint" value="#url.id#"> i still got invalid data type it. tried: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_int" value="#url.id#"> and worked. the weird thing cf_sql_int not listed being accepted: http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/coldfusion/5.0/cfml_reference/tags79.htm can explain me. > whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_bigint" value="#url.id#"> what value of #url.id#? had no problems either using cf8. > weird thing cf_sql_int not listed being accepted: iirc, when pass in invalid sql type cf uses default: cf_sql_char, accepts anything. ms sql implicit convert() right type , why works.
