Thread: VNC in Ubuntu from Windows7

hi

trying vnc ubuntu via local network , not sure if doing correctly , securely.

have tightvnc viewer , putty installed on windows machine. use putty log ubuntu , start vnc server (i think x11). start vnc viewer on windows machine , log ubuntu normal, slow , takes long time
refresh.

local network connected internet want sure
secure thought router has firewall.

can offer me advice or can obtain guide on how set securely, cant seem find on internet. have read tunneling not sure how set up, , vino server.

appreciated

why not try ubuntu's own remote desktop? vnc , can use passwords, confirmation etc security. tightvnc on windows can connect ubuntu no problem on machines. you'll have disable compiz, though. if not, screen seem freeze on windows machine.
