4. slackware
- testing purposes, see if linux right me. hear 1 best linux use if u want learn unix well.

have computer work on, running windows xp unfortunately. has come point reliability , security far important me want make switch linux. dont want os u, in long term think debian or slackware best me. have decide once have trialled them out.

situation possible? also, in terms of partitions...i know u can have 1 logical partition, cause problem?

you can have many system installs if have enough space. have 3 drives 4 installs , space several others. 3 main installs last ubuntu, current ubuntu 10.04 , next ubuntu 10.10. each in 20-25gb / (root) partition data in separate partitions mounted each whatever boot have same files & firefox bookmarks. not recommend sharing /home settings may conflict. if upgrading using same /home makes sense. /data not have worry settings. copy settings 1 /home if think might need them.
