Copy-Paste From Other Apps (like PPT 2004) Into CS5 Broken ? - OS 10.6.3

new mac, avoid problems went new post-snow leopard photoshop cs5. oops.

 

copy-paste other apps cs5
pasting images/photos powerpoint 2004 cs5, experienced exact problem posted off topic james norrington in thread "cs5 not let me copy & paste file names."  not answered , quoted here:

besides that, found copy-paste digital camera photo.jpg preview cs5 doesn't respect resolution either. directly opening photo ps cs5, fine.

 

from earliest ps, able copy image clipboard, have new document dialog box come pre-filled correct original wxh pixels, original resolution, color mode, etc., , paste new document - perfect fit (even oddball ppt 576 ppi). shift , cut-off.  don't have ppt 2008 test pasting there.

 

i have found similar less severe image cut off happens when copy-paste ppt -> preview, or -> textedit, or ->  drag , drop picture clipping.

 

opening image file in cs5
even original 300 dpi tiff file wrongly went 72 ppi etc. when opened directly cs5. converted file jpeg in preview - jpeg file opened cs5 correctly, reconverted jpeg tiff in preview, still opened ok (not counting loss of image quality). still couldn't copy paste either document cs5 correctly. 1 difference noticed in converted files more information available in preview file info. maybe made difference in opening file correctly.

 

i'd welcome suggestions. thanks.

photoshop cs5 uses cocoa apis clipboard, different old carbon apis.

also, cocoa apis convert formats (sometimes incorrectly), , have different support transparency old apis.

yes, found several apps clipboard support not working correctly, , notified apple fix cocoa clipboard functions.

(note, office still carbon, , writing pict clipboard, cocoa tries translate tiff)

 

as tiff file - can send 1 of files ccox @ adobe (dot) com ?

i'll take @ metadata , see why resolution not being read correctly.
