hello everyone. i'm keen move on windows linux , i'm trying install ubuntu (lucid lynx) on old laptop before commit switching on desktop. 1 major point, deciding factor whether or not install on desktop, whether or not can sync iphone on it. have installed minimal version of ubuntu 10.04 according this exception of installing gnome instead of xfce4 (since understand mounts iphone automatically). i've installed gtkpod. problem that, despite getting iphone icon on desktop, can't gtkpod connect it. when connect iphone, window saying i've inserted digital audio player , prompted program launch. when open gtkpod , try load ipod, warning window saying "extended info not used" , "ipod database import failed". have idea why? i'm quite advanced user of windows, complexities of linux baffling me.
