Thread: sudo: unable to resolve host

i've checked threads here same title , none applicable whatever have going on can tell.

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 hostname.

have now. rest cutout because have lot of blocked addresses in file.

experiencing sendmail errors in logs because hostname couldn't qualified.

read somewhere put period after hostname , fix this.

did fix sudo unable resolve host now.

/etc/hosts , /etc/hostname both match

happens if use hostname.desktop or whatever in both files. if go single name breaks sendmails ability hostname.

edit: when boot "init hostname main process (number) terminated status 1

ideas?

when "/etc/hosts , /etc/hostname both match", mean added dot @ end of hostname in /etc/hostname, too? in order sudo able resolve hostname, there should label in /etc/hosts matches value in /etc/hostname exactly. when added dot /etc/hosts, have had add dot in /etc/hostname. alternatively, without changing /etc/hostname, have done in /etc/hosts:
