Can I force LRM to save current work to the catalog?

i had unpleasant experience of working couple of hours on lrm3 (win7, 64bit) on multiple photos , had os crash - famous windows blue screen. consequence changes had done lost though catalogue intact.

 

is there way force "save catalogue" every again while working. typically in ms word if i'm writig important , i've written brilliant words i'm not able again. there similar in lrm? afaik work around close program , open again. sucks.

 

on related note, know algorithm lrm uses write changes catalogue?

it should writing them continuously make them.  create lock file , journal file, i'm unclear why crash result in more few seconds of lost work.

 

of course, safe thing , write out xmp data go backup.  that's do.  can use auto write or hit control-s write out image working on.  way, if happens again, read in images data lost.

CS5 Adobe Media Encoder: Encode failed because the source duration is nil.

i've been running production premium on new windows 7 64bit, 6gb i7 system several weeks , haven't had issues exporting media encoder.   i installed trial version of dreamweaver without of add-on's thought might mess licensed installation.   every attempt export -> media -> queue get's following error in ameencodingerrorlog.txt   - source file: c:\users\rob\appdata\local\temp\someproject.prproj - output file: c:\users\rob\videos\someproject.mov - preset used: custom - video: - audio: - bitrate: - encoding time: 00:00:00 7/8/2010 10:14:34 : encoding failed ------------------------------------------------- encode failed because source duration nil.   doing export directly pp works without error, don't want wait each export complete.   any ideas other reinstall pp?   tia i noticed range selector triangles right next each other.   changed source range: work area   not sure why default set 0 range. doesn't remember last setting when selec...
