Thread: How to check the actual cpu clock speed?

i've used

-sudo cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq
-sudo cat /proc/cpuinfo

along many other apps.

cpu running @ 2900mhz. athlon ii x2 245 correct. frequency scaling app on gnome panel says same, , individual core clocking works. why when overclock cpu 3055mhz, doesn't detect within os , still says 2900mhz?
