i thought i'd use forum constructive feedback on website design. first site designed fc. i'd know how holds up. can lend me thoughts?

very classy new-age design have there. color schemes nice, browns , pale blues. did come schemes yourself, or apart of resturaunts theme , feel? reguardless, it.

 

on home page, have nice slide show of of photography of food. thumps photographer. i, myself, rather new catalyst (started today, actually) function did use slideshow? timing frame frame nice. if gives enough time appriciate, want more.

there 1 problem came across: if wait end of slideshow, "slideshow" button comes up. if click on it, reloads page. anticipating? thing noticed while not viewable, button still clickable. might able adjust if using states disabling button until final state, enabling button. not sure method used slideshow not sure if work, but, might able adjust if feel adjustment want make.

 

the designs , pans think good, there appears lot of things coming off , on directions state state. might dissorient viewers. keeping things 2 directions (for example: pan right, pan down) can simplify design, , give unity website.

 

one other thing disorients lot of buttons open new tabs , windows. became little afraid click on button because not sure if new window going pop or not.

 

break down:

first impression: a

the first load says lot!

 

design: b+.

different states have pans going directions resulting in lack of unity. user can never tell button do, way launcing new window.

 

functionality: a-

functioning site! except slideshow button

 

highlights:

classy look

use of bing *thumb not using google* (as growing fan of bing)

 

half highlight:

option mobile users.

thumbs option. thumbs down fact on mobile platform, still hard surf. maybe more accurate name "non flash version." mobile version still launches pdf files. many phones / iphone/ipad have pdf viewing capabilities?

 

would cool:

if made mini app read weather/directions off of bing using flex.

if eliminate of new window pop-ups (except menu. feels appropriate menu, if apart of website application, better! don't want costumers/viewers leaving site @ hand)

 

the question:

would go restraunt based on website?

i would! website produces great image restraunt. go if close by, on date. yes, website selling point audience.

 

in site meant to: people want go restraunt.

 

how long did take develop page design product? did spend more time in design phase, or catalyst phase?

cf_sql_integer vs cf_sql_bigint vs cf_sql_int??

i have id (primary key) set bigint in sql server. have query following: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_integer" value="#url.id#"> i got invalid data type it. tried: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_bigint" value="#url.id#"> i still got invalid data type it. tried: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_int" value="#url.id#"> and worked. the weird thing cf_sql_int not listed being accepted: http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/coldfusion/5.0/cfml_reference/tags79.htm can explain me. > whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_bigint" value="#url.id#"> what value of #url.id#? had no problems either using cf8. > weird thing cf_sql_int not listed being accepted: iirc, when pass in invalid sql type cf uses default: cf_sql_char, accepts anything. ms sql implicit convert() right type , why works. hi, i'm starting , address http://localhost/joomla15/administrator doesn't work (it stays blank, no error or anything). wonder if have change in address or somewhere else. joomla installed through web-host dreamhost.com , didn't have much. i appreciate help. silvia http://localhost tells browser not go out internet use localized web server installed on pc. lack of better description, localized web server doing coding , test site development on local pc using software turns pc "local" web server; hence, term - localhost. you mentioned dreamhost.com installing joomla. assume mean installed joomla on hosting account? so need access joomla installation by: http://www.yourdomain.com/joomla15/administrator Board index Joomla!
