Thread: Questing for a lost file folder

i worried may have deleted massive collection of audio files. know stashed somewhere safe, cannot seem find it. remember in earlier versions of ubuntu there file search app similar windows' file finder allows search files key word. cannot seem find 1 either.. getting down brass tacks wondering if there app can install allow me search folder keyword. i'm not sure why ubuntu have gotten rid of feature.

thank info!

can remember folder's name was, or name of 1 of files? if so, open terminal , run:
code:
sudo updatedb && locate <file/foldername> | less
if name distinctive, you'll find right away, if it's more common name, may huge list of results you'll need through.

or run
code:
sudo updatedb && locate .mp3 | less
list of mp3 tracks , locations, ubuntu can find.

oh, , can press "q" exit results.
