Thread: Ubuntu 10.04 64bit Slow Internet

the mtu settings should match across network. default mtu of ubuntu 1500 ... router or wireless router should set 1500. have heard 1492 mtu optimal 1500 works me.

wanted share ... internet connection slowed way down after first installing 64bit version (not sure if 32bit same?).

tried suggestions disable ipv6 etc etc etc... worked temporarily internet got slow again!

decided @ router settings ... mtu set @ 1400 .... decided set @ 1500, default mtu of ubuntu.

fast internet back... stay time!

ok... mtu settings didn't ... after 24hrs troubleshooting issue ... ubuntu 1 cloud storage slowing internet down!!

pain finding issue. once killed ubuntu 1 processes running internet came right normal. causing lag (ping latency) on computers on lan.

had nothing ipv6 on system, or mtu settings. ubuntu 1 uploading in background.

needs 2 gigs cloud storage anyway? @ cost of major bandwidth. thumb drives better way go imo.

dale
