Thread: HDD upgrade, how to move ubuntu?

i have never done such thing, windows box nor linux, got new hdd. , @ moment have 2 hdd in pc adding 1tb. 750 , 250.

got 350 friend , dont know do. case can fit 2 drives, want ridd of 250 in exchange 350. problem is, have dual boot, windows on 750 (bad idea -_-) , ubuntu on 250. need move ubuntu 250 350. hoping keep files intact , not, maybe clone drive? how compensate added memory?

if worst comes worst, ill wipe 250, , reinstall ubuntu on 350. problem method dont know whats going happen grub configuration. still fine grub? or have reinstall or modify grub?

gona long night

my recommendation if want clone use clonezillato cloning. small bigger works pretty well. clone linux drive, putting image on windows drive, swap out linux drive , write new bigger drive. unfortunately there problem drives addressed uuid grub, , change new drive. hence in likelyhood need edit grub file, not easy thing grub 2 if installed....

see lot of pain @ boot prompt now. may able bring editing @ boot command, , run grub updater, personally, if copy need onto windows drive , start scratch...
