Thread: How to upgrade when HD is encrypted


i have 9.04 system encrypted installation using standard ubuntu fs encryption.

question consequences there upgrading 9.10 , beyond?

happen seemlessly or potential security leaks , or data loss?

you upgrade encrypted system same way unencrypted system. no more or less problematic unencrypted partition.

differences can think of be:

1. encryption makes data recovery difficult impossible, before upgrade, should doing already, not different.

2. there handful of packages unique luks / ecryptfs or whatever using encryption. have not had bugs of these packages in terms of upgrades, ymmv.
