Thread: File System Creation Fails. Why?
i'm trying install ubuntu alongside windows 7 on machine, , having difficulty doing so.
upon initial boot of livecd, says installer has encountered unrecognized error , goes straight desktop environment. there, can restart installer fine here trouble starts.
currently, have 2tb raid 0 array utilizing 4 500gb seagate barracuda sata ii drives. controller nforce 780a nvraid. have 2 ntfs partitions windows. 1 150gb primary partition c:, , 781gb d: storage of games, music , movies.
when try manually setup partitions in ubuntu installer, this.
- 200mb ext2 primary partition /boot
- 150gb xfs logical partition /
- approx 750gb xfs logical partition /home (you've figured out i'm following same c: , d: scheme in windows)
- 8192 mb partition swap
proceed install. see progress bar complete boot partition, @ 7% / stops , gives message saying partition creation has failed. tried using different filesystems reiserfs , ext4. same thing every time.
going on here?
running 64bit quadcore system btw if of importance.
the latest version of ubuntu has issues raid.
need install using alternate cd; should work fine.
