Thread: Redirect output to the cursor?

able this:

sleep 2 && echo $pwd >$?

where "?" way of outputting text cursor. during "sleep," idea place cursor in, say, text box. when "sleep" completed, want text box fill output of "echo $pwd." know how this? don't care if it's done ">" redirection or else.

way, ultimate goal bind "date +%y%m%d" key combination, can output yyyymmdd filenames, etc.
