Thread: Connect Open Office to Remote MySQL

this not new topic, know that. still new linux of threads on subject elude understanding. i'm getting there.

i'm using ubuntu 9.04. have several ecommerce websites , able connect open office directly site databases , simple mail merging on envelopes.

problem oo appears file based. read thread suggesting remove ubuntu version of oo , install directly site. problem:

there's no wizard.

readmes included in archive speak more experienced crowd. think i'm supposed uninstall existing one, unzip new oo folder? doesn't sound right though because not load dependencies.

so, have several questions in need of answering:

1. re-install correct way access remote mysql databases?
2. upgrading 10.04 give me ability?
3. can please give me link complete idiot's guide oo installation on ubuntu?

i have lot more experience do, , don't know begin in trying solve problem have. oh, yes do: create sysop-only web page dump database on-screen format open-office spreadsheet like, cut-and-paste onto local computer. not elegant, know working pretty -- , wouldn't have mess around open office versions.

have enormous preference sticking programs can install using synaptic. however, if must later version of oo, use synaptic remove current version, go oo web site. oh shucks, not provide .deb file, easy install. luck it.

have no idea whether version of oo let use database part of web site.

cf_sql_integer vs cf_sql_bigint vs cf_sql_int??

i have id (primary key) set bigint in sql server. have query following: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_integer" value="#url.id#"> i got invalid data type it. tried: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_bigint" value="#url.id#"> i still got invalid data type it. tried: where whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_int" value="#url.id#"> and worked. the weird thing cf_sql_int not listed being accepted: http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/coldfusion/5.0/cfml_reference/tags79.htm can explain me. > whateverid = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_bigint" value="#url.id#"> what value of #url.id#? had no problems either using cf8. > weird thing cf_sql_int not listed being accepted: iirc, when pass in invalid sql type cf uses default: cf_sql_char, accepts anything. ms sql implicit convert() right type , why works.
