Thread: Python singing through PulseAudio's lungs library?
hello all, i'm preparing start new hobby project in python. music player doesn't suck (winamp being music player i've ever given "doesn't suck" title to, , i'm sick of having use wine play music).
disclaimer: i'll first don't yet have clear idea of how audio works in linux, please gentle. i'm no stretch new programming, first time targeting linux.
1 of main concerns vague sense of doom associated name pulseaudio , fact there no python-pulseaudio bindings package in repositories there alsa. problem? wikipedia article (that i'll admit partially understanding) suggests alsa interface work because pulseaudio exposes shim interface looks alsa, talking directly pulseaudio possible. latter seems cleaner , more featureful solution (since pulseaudio isn't going anywhere in forseeable future), in googling i've not seen real information on how direct interface works... leads me believe either i'm asking wrong question or nobody has done in python yet (which seems unlikely).
have resources go read? or perhaps high level description of how whole sound thing works , parts of need familiarize myself with?
in advance whatever can get!
bump! doesn't know how audio programming works in ubuntu?
