Thread: What are the preincluded user groups for?

hi

want know user groups preincluded on linux (eg. mail, video) do.

please tell me or give me link website explains it.

groups in linux have permissions files , hardware. members of group, whether human or system, allowed permitted system's configuration. normal user has both individual permissions, assigned them, , group permissions given them because belong group. instance, members of 'audio' group allowed access sound devices, , members of 'display' group can change display properties. common way regulate user can assign them groups. not need mess these in ubuntu; changing 'user privileges' under system -> users , groups -> advanced settings, ubuntu automatically assign user necessary groups.

basic groups defined linux standard base specification here.

hope helped!
