Thread: Moving old home to new pc

just finished building new ubuntu box , have been getting things setup.
have new sata 500 gig drive in new system. old ide drive previous system in , mounted.
can boot either flipping bios info. not sure if can mount sata while booted old ide tho, mount errors @ startup.

so, plan move essential bits of /home storage area, , take ownership of them, can import old mail , other essential stuff. when try copy sata drives new install permission errors, , files owned #1002.
seeing how brain toast due heat , working on build past 8 hours, can give me simple way copy on info ide drive (which going away) sata drive , have data usable import home folder.
