Thread: Asus P5Q Pro Mobo - No PC Wakeup from Standby

i installed ubuntu 10.04 lts 64-bit, , it. unexpected set though: after being sent suspend clicking menu option, pc can't wakeup. neither moving ms usb wireless mouse or clicking buttons on wireless keyboard, no briefly pressing power button on pc. of course, usb wakeup options jumpered on mobo , preselected in bios, , work perfect on same pc in windows. in ubuntu absolutely nothing happen when trying wakeup peripherals. when pressing power button, hard drive , fans start spinning, there nothing on monitor hooked via dvi port ati 3700 series gpu. when reboot pc power button, ubuntu either hangs , needs reboot (at times successful), or boots after long struggle (possibly re-mapping hardware again).

why wakeup represents such ongoing problem ubuntu? why there no option in device manager each suitable device "enabled" or "disabled" wakeup pc, similar windows? in fact, in windows there separate fix (presented separate device) prevent accidental mouse movement wakeup pc, i.e. these issues worked out. what's wrong ubuntu? way fix these issues? first impression is, there multiple issues, including need manually change config files select devices wakeup, , fixing dvi & hdmi related monitor wakeup issues. configuration or tweak manager in ubuntu allowing choose wakeup devices without modding files manually? dvi fix or whatever may monitor related (may ubuntu graphics support can't read edid on wakeup)? again, hardware works fine in windows. , works ok in ubuntu, including gpu generic ubuntu or ati drivers, except wakeup issue.

anyone can suggest package allowing set advanced power management options in ubuntu, possibly including device can control system wakeup suspend?

also, why there no standby option in ubuntu 10.04 menu?
