Thread: wireless issues - ath5k

after upgrade 10.04 wireless card unusable.

following advice here--> https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/568090
ran:

code:
sudo modprobe ath5k nohwcrypt
perfect, works great! thinking got out of whole deal way easy. make stick each time boot, ran this:

code:
sudo sh -c "echo 'options ath5k nohwcrypt' >/etc/modprobe.d/custom-wireless.conf"
honestly, don't remember outcome after did it, still working. after reboot wireless again not working.

now, if run
code:
sudo modprobe ath5k nohwcrypt
i get:
code:
fatal: error inserting ath5k (/lib/modules/2.6.32-24-generic/updates/cw/ath5k.ko): unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
if run:
code:
sudo sh -c "echo 'options ath5k nohwcrypt' >/etc/modprobe. d/custom-wireless.conf"
i nothing

maybe made typo in second thing ran?? heck did do? appreciated, have no idea i'm doing.

thanks,
jamin
