Howto: best way to remove audio

ok, need seems should extremely simple.  have video/audio clip , need replace audio in 4 small sections of larger clip.

 

using razor blade on audio how doing now, permanant (obviously) , afraid if clip , need adjust in future, have start over.

 

i tried adjusting audio level using key points couldnt work.  wants lower audio level gradually, whereas need cut immediately.  come normal level.

 

please help.  there has simpler way without cutting audio clip dozen pieces.

if not need cuts, video, can use keyframes on audio, , can instantly drop volume on course of 1 frame (basically 1/30th sec.). hint: when go add keyframes, zoom view of mini-timeline way in, , set keyframe, hit cursor arrow key advance 1 frame, , set keyframe. adjust desired level of attenuation. if not zoomed in, keyframes seem atop each other, , hard cursor onto. now, can still use keyframe advance button, easier work in zoomed in view, imho. no need cut audio.

 

you can still cuts (just audio track - target it), , in "pieces" wish attenuate, drag yellow-orange "rubberband" way down in segment of clip. hint: show volume keyframes need set in audio track header (should default).
