CSS acrobatics : can the following be done?
hey there.
i'm using following method on new web design i'm working on :
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2917546#2917546
and here's site in question :
i never saw done anywhere quite way, works (except on ie6, i've given on). , how works downsizes a gigantic left-justified img aspect ratio intact height fills 100% of viewport. img contained in a fixed-position div hidden overflow, width can exceed the viewport without provoking horizontal scrollbar. cases where image not wide enough fill viewport, there's extra layer underneath containing background gradient, stretched to 100% width (to fill whatever empty space left foreground image).
the column on right ignores of above. it's absolutely-positioned, fixed-width, , right-justified (right:0). this looks fine under proportions, if browser happens be stretched particularly wide , not high, there's gaping blank area between image , column, i'd about.
so wondering if possible somehow, way, take whatever blank area exists between foreground image , browser's right border, , center column (or else, description caption) there. not center in viewport, in whatever space the image isn't occuppying.
is such thing realistically achievable, perhaps using two-column table, image occuppies 1 column, leaving right fill 100% of what's left?
or perhaps there might way place inline div next image inside containing div, fill whatever space image isn't filling? (i tried , whole thing exploded in my hands, didn't right.)
anyhow, i'm hoping suggestions on how solve little problem.
anyone? :-(
